Maintenance intervals for vending machines

Are there fixed maintenance intervals?

No. The maintenance intervals are very individual, as they depend on many different variables. These include, for example, whether the vending machine is located outdoors or indoors and also how much the vending machine is used.

However, the manufacturer of our vending machines, TCN, generally recommends the following maintenance intervals:

Maintenance Interval. Task Description. Examples.
Weekly. Basic maintenance tasks requiring minimal tools, such as cleaning, inventory management, and functionality checks.
  • Ensure product inventory is sufficiently stocked and organized.
  • Check expiration dates of perishable goods and remove expired products.
  • Test vending machine functionality.
  • Inspect payment systems.
  • Clean internal and external components.
  • Track and immediately resolve customer complaints or maintenance issues.
  • Document all maintenance activities and identify potential problems.
Quarterly. A thorough inspection, cleaning, and testing of the machines every three months.
  • Thoroughly inspect the vending machine for wear, damage, or defective parts.
  • Clean and lubricate necessary components.
  • Calibrate payment systems (coin mechanisms, bill acceptors, card readers).
  • Inspect and adjust cooling or heating systems (if applicable).
  • Perform necessary software updates and upgrades.
Annually. Yearly maintenance to extend the machine’s lifespan and ensure optimal performance.
  • Disassemble and clean internal components such as dispensing mechanisms, payment systems, and cooling units.
  • Lubricate moving parts and replace worn components.
  • Conduct a thorough system inspection to ensure optimal operation.
  • Perform necessary repairs and upgrades.
  • Review and improve inventory management procedures and product offerings based on annual market research.
Immediate. Immediate repairs required to fix downtime caused by cash handling or network connection issues.
  • Restore network connection and ensure seamless payment processes.
