The German Youth Protection Act (JuSchG) sets clear age limits for the sale and consumption of alcohol. According to § 9 JuSchG:
1. beer, wine and similar beverages may not be sold or served to children and young people under the age of 16. This is only permitted if they are accompanied by a person with parental authority
2. high-proof alcoholic drinks such as schnapps or mixed drinks containing spirits may generally not be sold or served to children and young people under the age of 18.
In addition, the JuSchG (§ 9 Para. 3) stipulates that alcoholic drinks may not be offered in publicly accessible vending machines unless the machine is located in a place inaccessible to children and young people or is secured by technical devices or constant supervision.
